Nostalgia for Pastoral Bengal

“A cinematic love letter to Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay’s timeless classic — stepping into the lush monsoon greens, mud trails, and nostalgic wonder of rural Bengal.”
The Scent of Wet Earth & Childhood
As a child growing up in Bengal, listening to the rain drumming on the tin roof while reading Pather Panchali shaped the poetry of my soul. Standing in the rural village of Nischindipur with my camera, watching a young brother and sister run through tall Kash flowers under an overcast sky, felt like stepping into an eternal dream. The scent of raw green mangoes and first monsoon rain in the air was overwhelming.
Honoring a Century of Soul
When Satyajit Ray filmed Apu and Durga listening to the hum of the railway telegraph wires, he immortalized the bittersweet ache of childhood innocence. Through these frames, I wanted to capture that unhurried pastoral heartbeat that modern city life has stolen from us. It is my humble tribute to the little road that leads us all back home.
A widely admired photo series connecting classical literature with modern visual storytelling.
